Wrinkle-Relaxing Treatments (Botox®, Vistabel®)
Wrinkles are skin creases that are created by the repeated action of very specific facial muscles. This means that they grow deeper and become more obvious with age.
Wrinkle-relaxing treatments can smooth out these creases in the skin, especially frown lines on the forehead and “crows feet” by the eyes, which are the most common of wrinkles. Treatments can also be used in conjunction with dermal fillers for an all-over softening of wrinkles and facial lines.
At Cosmetico, we use Botox® (a neurotoxin derived from a bacterium called clostridium botulinum) and Vistabel®.
How Botox®, Vistabel® works
Botox®, Vistabel® is given by injection to weaken the muscles and has been used for years to treat muscle spasms and can also be used to reduce sweating. It acts by temporarily blocking nerve signals to a muscle, resulting in the relaxing of the facial muscles with the effect of softening existing lines and preventing the formation of new ones. The result is a fresher looking skin.
The effect of Botox® is not permanent – it wears off after a few months and so, for the desired effect to be maintained, treatment needs to be repeated.
